lets say in middle school a kid got A’s and B’s with a 3.5 gpa
IN highschool he signed up for 4 AP classes (MATH,ENGLISH,HISTORY,SCIENCE)
does middle school affect your chances of going to a good college?
i know that middle school is the foundation but do they actually look at your grades in middle school or just SOLELY on HS?
They only look at high school. I pretty much blew off my classes in middle school and didn’t totally buckle down until my sophomore year in high school. My performance those last three years was enough for a scholarship package that covered all of my tuition and fees and most of my living expenses.
I just read that it mostly happens in America and some parts of Europe, but not in the Middle East. How do they expect the kids to learn their "stuff"?
they dont….the powers that be are in denial about thier populations sexuality…..thats why most of the men in those countries are under the mistaken belief that western women are easy and that we are interested in them : )
My son is autistic and he is in the sixth grade. I am trying to find a good middle school that has a classes for autistic children. Can you help me?
All public schools are required to provide appropriate education for all students with disabilities. This is what special education is.
If a school does not, parents have a variety of legal options available to promptly force the school/school district to provide appropriate service delivery.
Again, these legal options are because the student would be enrolled in special education.
A school cannot choose to provide appropriate services for your son. It is federally required that al public schools do this. They must comply
I heard on the radio this morning that this middle school in Oregon plans on distributing prescribed birth control to their students. School officials stated that the reason they’re planning to do this is because parents should not ignore the fact children in this age bracket are having sex. However, many parents argue that middle school students are too young to have birth control pills. The dj stated that he agrees with the parents. He also stated that he thinks it is ok to pass out birthcontrol pills to high school students. What do you think?
The girls would be checked by a doctor before being given the birth control. And they would check up on her every few months to make sure everything is okay.
I think its a great idea, along with sex education and contraceptives being provided, this will hopefully lower the teen pregancy rate in this country.
Take for example The Netherlands, they give out birth control and condoms and have the LOWEST teen pregancy rate and LOWEST abortion rate in the world.
When I was a middle school student we didn’t date girls or even fully understand the concept of it until grade 7-8 ish. We were interested in street hockey, pogs, pokemons and other KID stuff.
I think the problem is the influences of media putting pressure on kids to be certain ways and the fact there are very few role models left.
What are your opinions and viewpoints of middle school dating?
I think it is scary. I’m 17 and I’ve never been in a relationship. I don’t see the point unless you’re older and looking to settle down. Dating is good for the experience but I don’t think kids should start that until at least their junior year of high school. I think middle-schoolers have the idea that relationships are solly sex oriented. Not everyone, but too many kids are having oral sex by the time they reach 7th grade. I was astounded when I heard this. It is a disgrace and America is headed for destruction.
I want to be prepared. What lesson plans or materials can I use or buy for middle school with special ed life skills class? Any ideas on hands on activities that deal with the students senses?
What is your role in the classroom? Are you student teaching or doing an observation? Are you a paraprofessional? Are you the teacher? If you are the assistant or student teacher, talk to the teacher and ask for her advice. Basic subjects that are taught in a middle school life skills classroom are Math, Language Arts, Social Skills, Functional Skills (taking care of self, independence skills, community functioning, etc), and possibly science, social studies, health, etc depending on your district. For students who are typically in life skills classes, independence is a major goal. This includes personal responsibility, taking care of themselves- hygiene, laundry, cleaning, money skills, telling time and time management, being able to function in the community by taking public transportation, going somewhere, purchasing items, making choices, etc. You can find lesson plans based on what you are focusing on in class. All academics are generally functional in a life skills class and should be related to real life as much as possible to benefit their quality of independent functioning in the future. He’s been very stressed out by this & has had stomach & neck problems due to it. I don’t want him to go through an entire year of misery.
I’m going to take a bit of a different stand with my answer. Your son’s teachers may not be able to "back off" because they have the curriculum they are expected to cover. They have only so many hours of instructional time to cover the work. That doesn’t mean that they can’t be understanding and sensitive to individual needs. However, my first thought would be to find out why your son is struggling and whether other kids in the class are having the same problem. If this is a common problem, you may find that it happens to most kids at this grade level and they mature through the year and learn to handle the heavier work load. If you can, talk to other parents and find out what they think.
It is the teacher’s responsibility to consider your son’s needs and to take appropriate steps if there is a problem. If he is performing differently than the other students, and differently than he has in the past, there is cause for concern, and you do need to discuss it with the school. Try to identify with the teachers what the problem is, and what all of you can do about it.
It may turn out that the best thing you can do is to help your son more with his schoolwork or even get him a tutor for a couple of days a week. Help him find ways to be more organized and efficient about his schoolwork. Is some of the homework assignments that he doesn’t get finished in class? Is that part of the problem? The work load does get heavier as kids progress through school, and schools are under pressure to keep standards up and to make sure kids achieve.
I hope this is of some help. Best of luck to you and your son.

I recently got my B.S in math, and would like to apply for an internship, so that I could teach beginning in september.
I was wondering if that’s possible.
It depends on which state you are in. Your best bet would be to contact the State Department of Education. Good luck.
Some of the girls in our school have this book. Do you think that it’s a good thing that this math book is aimed specifically at girls or do you think it’ patronizing to point to things like breaking a nail in the title?
Maybe middle-school girls generally need some extra help with math, I don’t know. But "breaking a nail"? Who came up with that, Cosmo?
