How important is math for a middle school student that persists in a career in programming or graphic design? I have The most hate for math at school, i can almost guarantee that i will never use the crap they are teaching in my classes. I Am looking to code stuff in either C++ or VBS something like that and i am wondering if i would need alot of math experience. I have Already looked into VBS a bit. Thanks
It’s not the specific math equations that you will use throughout your programming career. It’s the thought process and logic that you develop from advanced math classes that will make it possible for you to program. If you can’t do basic algebra in junior high, you won’t succeed as a programmer.
every group of 4 middle school students need to make an art piece about a topic
but i don’t know what the topic should be…
I’m thinking like
"How can we make a difference?"
or "How can I make the world a better place?"
sort of topic
any ideas?

My son is 11 and just started middle school. In elementary school, holiday gift giving was easy. I just sent in a gift or gift card to the one or two main teachers and I was done. How is holiday gift-giving handled in middle school where there are many more teachers involved in your child’s education? Does every teacher get a gift? Also, since each teacher isn’t teaching your child all day, should the value of each gift be lower than in elementary school? I’d appreciate any guidance you could provide. Thanks.
I don’t think it’s that serious. I just left middle school so I see how it usually works. Here are a few suggestions.
1. Put a bunch of gift cards in a bag (or just enough for the teachers he has) then have them draw radomly. This can be a great alternative to picking and choosing who gets what amont if you want to give a gift card. Or you could just give the same amont on all gift cards and just give them to the teachers.
2. Just give them to the teachers you feel are important, or the teacher your son likes. That always works for me. I don’t think teacher’s mind not receiving gifts. It’s not like they compete to see who has the most gifts!
Anyway good luck with that!
I have to take a math entrance exam in Jan., and I was wondering how on earth the essay portion would like, what kind of sample questions do you think a middle school math student would get in the form of a 3 paragraph essay?
Probably like, Two students are growing a plant. Katelyn’s plant grew to 5 feet in one week. Joe’s grew to 7 feet. A week later, Katelyn’s plant was 7 feet tall and Joe’s was 8 feet tall. Explain the difference of percent growth from week to week, and student to student. Try to explain it very thoroughly. Explain work and at the end repeat all data plain and simple. I don’t think you will have to make an essay rather than a short answer. It really depends what grade you are in.
I wantewd to do something like how long does it take bleach to kill a plant, but that was already taken. Any ideas on similar projects that would not be TOO similar?
How about the effects of salt water on plant growth?
Why do plants grow towards the light?
You’ll find many more ideas for science projects about plants at this site. Best of luck with it.
I need to make a love story film for my film making class. I decided to do it on middle school love because I "loved" this guy in the sixth grade, but he dumped me for the slut. I was wondering how a sixth grade girl makes herself "sexy" for her boyfriend.
Oh definitely make up, lip stick, eyeliner. She’ll try to pose in an amateurish slutty way. Ear rings and necklaces.
I am going to be moving to Colorado, and I want to attend an online school for the rest of my freshman year. Is it possible to sign up and be in the online school for the rest of my year?
Yes, you can. I attend the Insight School of California. They have one for Colorado. http://www.insightcohs.net/
I am only in the 6th grade.
I guess i do pretty well (90’s+).
But I HAVE to make it to Harvard University for college.
You are in the sixth grade, and you are already looking ahead to college? Good for you! I like a person who sets goals for himself.
The answer to your questions is "no". However, you seem to have developed excellent study skills, which will serve you in good stead all of your life.
Learn as much as possible about as much as possible. Do not limit yourself to material that is presented in class. Instead, try to learn and experience life outside of school because you will be better able to build your formal education on that.
Good luck to you!
Do women there go to school? What kind of clothing do they wear? Can they have good jobs? Can they drive cars? Do they have the same right as males? Do they get to choose who they date/marry? I am interested.
The Middle East is a "large region". It ranges from Lebanon (which is semi-westernized) to Saudia Arabia (which is very "lets say" non Westernized). But, across the board even in Saudi Arabia (where I lived for 10 years) Women do go to schools. In fact, They even have British system schools and American Schools. Women even act in TV shows.
Clothing: In Lebanon for example they wear anything, sleeveless, shorts, bikinis…etc. In Saudi Arabia they dress in Abaya’s (which is their national dress). Now-a-days Abaya’s come in different shapes and sizes.. Such as D&G denim Abaya’s and Sheer Velvety ones.
Jobs: In the United Arab Emirites, Women have amazing jobs…such as Parliament positions, and CEO’s…etc
Women can drive cars in 95% of the Middle East with the Exeption of some areas in Saudi Arabia
Rights: In some cases they have more rights than Men. (that’s a long topic) ranging from earnings to raising her children.
Marriage: In most cultures (which are islamic) the woman has to approve or disapprove otherwise the marriage is void. It is harder to find males in a segregated society to choose on your own. But usually when a female is ready to get married…. People ranging from her friends to family introduce different males to them and they get to know them for a period of time and approve or disapprove. In more westernized Middle Eastern Countries they just date…
I didn’t make my high school team this year, and if I don’t next year I would like to coach. How old do I have to be to coach as a assistant for a middle school team ?
yeah the coach would know me.
when i was in middle school, our assistant was like 24 so i had no idea how old you have to be.
I don’t think age really matters if you want to coach middle school because you are volunteering and not getting paid to coach. If you were getting paid, maybe 18 or 21. I think it’s great that you want to coach. It shows that you really love basketball
