Do your homework. In those years homework is worth alot of points so it helps to do every assignment, that way if u dont do to well on tests you can still get Bs…but if u do your homework right everynight you learn the material which helps better your knowledge and test scores in general.

How come the country with the highest literacy rate, school age, scientific advancement in the middle east..?

    is not a muslim country?

Religion cannot be taken into account for such things. They are not relevant.
Muslims believe in Christ, Moses and God (Yes the same God as Christians) Why Europe advance while Many Countries in Africa are not. They are Christian as well.

To me, it is more about the history. If you learn about the Middle East history, you will know. How much she has suffer. What is actually the causes for many people to become terrorists.

Moreover, I think the most advance country in the Middle East is United Arab Emirate. It is a Muslim Country YES.

How different is high school from middle school?

Posted by admin on December 24th, 2009 and filed under middle school | 7 Comments »

After this summer i will be entering high school. Is it that much different from middle school? Any tips?

From personal experience middle school felt like highschool, which should be the othe way around right? But for me it wasn’t we drank ,party, smoke because we didn’t at moment have to worry about important grades or college but when we got to highschool eveything change and so did the people sometimes for the worst and sometimes for the best. Basically you goota be happy with youself to get through highschool. Even though were suppose to be maturing, people still act like their in elementary school. Try to make new friends cause you will lose some of you ald ones. But highschool is fun and are the best years you will ever have.

Are middle school students really that difficult to teach?

I’m going to be graduating this spring and will hopefully get a job teaching middle school science this summer.

I agree with an above poster.

It really depends on the teacher. With middle school kids – you know what you are getting. I prefer this level. They are goofy and they are extreme in their needs but they have huge goals and dreams.

You know those animals they bring into hospitals? they have to have the right demeanor. They will be poked, prodded and they *cannot* react negatively. Thats us middle school teachers.

today I had to break up a kissing couple as well as tell a boy to put his hotwheels cars away.

What metro areas have a healthy job market for middle/high school history teachers?

Posted by admin on December 24th, 2009 and filed under middle school teachers | 1 Comment »

I’m a history/education major and I know that getting a job teaching history is pretty tough unless you want to be a coach also. I really don’t want to coach a sport. Does anyone know of any metro areas where there is a healthy(ish) job market in the history teacher department at the middle or high school level?

I hate to break this to you, but history and English majors are a dime a dozen; you really are going to have to do something that sets you apart from the crowd. You don’t want to coach; how about debate? Or Mock Trial? or something else?

Most schools expect teachers to act as advisers to clubs if they are not coaching, so figure out something you would enjoy doing.

How hard is the Middle School Math MTEL (47) test? I’m debating whether I should take it or not.?

It’s hard to answer that question without knowing how good/bad you are at math and where you are in life. I know of some people (who are teachers) who failed it the first time and studied a lot, and some who did just fine.

I took it a few months ago without studying at all and easily passed it… but I am also currently a math major in college so my math skills aren’t rusty at all.

I would recommend getting a book and looking it over to at least see if you are confident in most of the areas on the test. The questions range from very basic math to trigonometry and calculus. You don’t have to be an expert in all of the areas because the subsections don’t mater on their own, just the overall scaled average matters but it would obviously be helpful to not go into the test clueless about half of the subsections or having not thought about trig for 20 years. You can also get a good idea about what is on the test here: http://www.mtel.nesinc.com/MA_testobjectives.asp

    Good luck!

What are some good ideas for a middle school science project? [Please no baking soda and vinegar]?

Try growing seeds with tap water vs bottled water and see if it makes a difference in the size of the plant.

From experience. It doesn’t have to be public. It can be private, magnet, charter, or even catholic… It has to have middle school but I don’t really care if it also has elementary or highschool. Thank you!!!

There are huge number of Schools in Broward County and good one too.
Here is a link to the Schools in that area.

what is the best way to do homeschooling for middle school and high school online?

Posted by admin on December 21st, 2009 and filed under online middle school | 3 Comments »

This may not help much, but if you haven’t, you might try going to http://home-school.com/ as a resource.

Also, regarding the above comment from make_me_a_grill: That’s just the problem. Too many people think that H.S. is just or mostly about socializing so many do mediocre to poor only to regret it later in life when they realize they don’t hang out with their friends from H.S. because they’ve moved on. Good grades stick with you much longer than H.S. socializing ever will. That’s why many many choose to homeschool. They want thier children to have a focused education that will last.

Also, you have an inaccurate picture of homeschooling if you think that homeschoolers don’t socialize. This isn’t necessarily the case at all. In fact, my nieces and nephew who are being homeschool socialize with their homeschool friends much more than I ever did in a public school.

Will my grades in middle school effect me in high school?

Posted by admin on December 21st, 2009 and filed under middle school grades | 5 Comments »

I have gotten mostly all As and Bs until this year in 8th grade, where I have gotten a few Ds, Cs, and less Bs and As. I am pretty sure that next year in high school I will be able to get my grades up, but will anything bad happen because of the grades I have been getting recently?

Also, any help about how to survive high school would help! Lol
    Thanks!

Nope- when you get to high school you get to start fresh grade wise.

But you might do the same things that got you bad grades in middle school so be careful! If you want to go to a good college, its a lot easier to maintain a good GPA than try to rescue a bad one.

My biggest tip would be to ask for help as soon as you get confused about anything. Its a lot easier for a tutor to explain one confusing question than to try to catch you up on a whole semester’s worth of material you never fully mastered.
