Do middle school grades count for Harvard or another high-end university? Pls 10 pts!?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under middle school grades | 5 Comments »

I’m in the 10th grade, and my plan is to go to a upscale university such as harvard or yale, although I’m still choosing between business and engineering. I’m currently privately homeschooled and statistics say that homeschoolers have a greater chance of getting into a university, and my GPA these past two years have been at 4.00…although I totally blew middle school (2.67 6th grade, same for 7th and 3.00 for 8th), until I strapped up my boots and decided I was going to study.

So even with those (awful) middle school grades, can I still get into harvard, yale, stanford, princeton, or another University???

    Thanks
So then besides GPA, what else do they do, do they test in different areas? what areas do they test in?

They don’t count your grades in 7th grade or 8th grade.
They start looking at them at 9th – 12th grade.

If We No Longer Could Get Oil From The Middle East How Would Kids Get To School?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under east middle school | 14 Comments »

This could happen , if the Middle East has a WWIII, have to admit its really unstable in Iran and Pakistan and they don’t like us very much. We have 4 Oil Co. bids on Iraq Oil and that will help, but if Obama wins and takes out our troops Al Qaeda and Taliban take over Iraq we have No Oil . We depend on them. If one day we got no more oil from the Middle East cause we have more oil in the US than the entire Middle East does but Congress don’t want to drill it up – how the heck would the School Buses run? How do we get to work?Use Vegy oil? I don’t think theres enough vegy oil, then we wont have vegys. Don’t we need to drill for oil? Do majority democrats in Congress want us to have a depression? Thats what Im starting to think, they are against all energy! Should we start cutting down trees and stocking up on logs for the winter?
Do you think Congress has investments in the alcohol and Crisco ? What is going on!?
Why is 100 majority Congress members making 300 MILLION people who pay taxes to the gov’t ignore what we want? What makes them so special? 76% of the population wants to DRILL our oil!
Democrats in Congress against drilling are ruining alot of peoples lives and I don’t think they even care!
I think Democrats Hate Oil companies so much that they are subborn and not thinking that they are HURTING our country!
Get Over it Congress and just DRILL! Before China Gets OUR OIL! They are drilling 60 miles from our oil source and will eventually be using a big straw getting all of ours!

Yes, our government has been working toward bringing down the middle class for a while now. They are scared of the people that want it to change. They want us broke and using public transit so we go where they take us when they want us to. They have found willing partners with the envior"mental"ists that want the same. The worship of earth has replaced the worship of God.
I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, there are a few oil drilling riggs here. Thats where the fish are. Go figure. A real enviormentalist would want us to drill our own oil so we can make it as enviormentaly safe as possible. Do you really think the arab terrorists produce oil with the best interests of the earth in mind?

How to motivate middle school students?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under middle school students | 4 Comments »

It will be my first year teaching middle school students (8th grade math). Teachers/inspired teachers: What are great incentives you use in your classroom?
    (computer time, board games…)

I am not a teacher, I am actually a high school student. But I had a excellent English teacher back in the 8th & 9th grade. What she did was all of the students sat at a table, and she sat at the front of the table, and she basically just connected with the class on a level of our understanding. She made lectures fun and learning fun. All that she did was put herself in our shoes, and help us all learn at our own pace. We also did occasional games and writing essays on fun subjects. We did board games on fun days, reading on Wednesdays ( where you could bring in a pillow and relax while read on the floor or lean against the wall), and writing, literature, grammar on other days. It is a shame the class was only 50 minutes, I wish it was the whole day. But those are some things she did, that you might be able to apply to your Math Class. ( Not the reading part, but maybe for homework) just make sure nobody sleeps. As for lectures you can try that. Also try computer games. Math computer games. What makes Math boring is always doing stuff out of books too. Try using the computer, chalkboard, or lectures. Mix it up. Have fun with it. Maybe have a fun day too. For example, have a math competition. Whoever can solve so many problems in so much time correctly wins this, but the prizes have too be well worth it. Have a nerd dress down day. Review the basics of math for those students struggling to. Use flashcards to review basics. Most important do not push any student unless you feel that they are lazy. They might get overwhelmed if you press too much homework or are learning impaired/slow learners. Make sure everyone is understanding the concepts and working at his/her pace. Make up creative ideas and use them. Make class fun. Good luck. Also having a pizza day once every nine weeks is a great way to reward a group of hard working students.

    Are middle school teachers overworked?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under middle school teachers | 14 Comments »

I’m considering becoming a middle school teacher. My question, are they overworked? I really don’t know if it’s what i want to do or not! Just wondering. Thanks

No matter what or where or any age level, if you want to teach it is a calling or ministry or vocation, a very very hard job. So please go into the schools and volunteer. to teach middle school you have to have a special personality that commands respect but at the same time has a great sense of humor. I have taught preschool thru high school and I actually love middle school but it is NOT for everyone. try them all out, good luck but teaching is not for the average JOe, it takes so so so much out of you.

Do my middle school grades count for colleges?

Posted by admin on January 25th, 2010 and filed under middle school grades | 8 Comments »

Im in 8th grade, and for the last to 3 years, my grades have been sucking. My parents don’t reward me so I don’t really have anything to push me to get good grades. But I’m really trying to get good grades, straight A’s actually, and so far that’s going well. But I was wondering if my middle school grades even count, or is it just high school. I’m still going to get good grades anyway, I’m just worried if the last few years are going to ruin my work. So if I got all A’s for the rest of this year and high school, could I still get into a really good college? Do colleges even look at middle school grades?

It depends. Some schools count several high school level courses that are advanced for 8th graders into your transcript. Also, sometimes foreign language tests taken at the end of 8th grade carry over. But most of the time they don’t. Check with your guidance counselor.

Also, most colleges would rather see a student improve than not getting better. Just focus from now on and you’ll be fine. Glad to see some young kids thinking about their future!

How do Muslims in the middle east learn about sex since?

Posted by admin on January 25th, 2010 and filed under east middle school | 7 Comments »

My friend says in the middle east, sex is not taught in school and parents dont talk about it to their kids (those that are old enough to know). So where do they learn about it before they go into marriage?

lol, you are seriously implying that in the middle east, people do not know how to have sex.

Hmm…I wonder why they keep having kids…
