Posted by admin on March 24th, 2010 and filed under middle school grades | 1 Comment »

    Hi,
So i was just wondering if you could give me your tips on how you got great grades.
Like how you studied, if you did anything before studying, how much you studied per night, ect. I would like to know if any of you guys got a 3.7 gpa in high school, and how you managed to get one.

    Thanks so much!

Today is your lucky day. I have great grades and great advice to give you. Out of 671 students I ranked 12th. Here is what you do:
    1. Have a positive attitude
    2. Do your work
    3. Pay Attention
    4. Put pressure on yourself to excel
    5. Don’t make strategies to do well. Play it by day.

    Hope this Helps!!!!!

To become a Medicine doctor, do middle school grades count at all?

nope. the only thing colleges might note about middle school is if you failed a grade and had to repeat it

What is the point of the grades you get at middle school?

I’m not failing or anything, but if colleges only look at your grades from high school..then what’s the point of doing so well in middle school?
I’ve gotten in trouble 2 times in middle school..like one time I plagiarized for music class because I forgot that there was an assignment due. IS that going to affect anything?

to learn and not get kicked out so u CAN go to high school

I’m a youth minister that’s planning a sleepover for our Middle School girls (grades 6-8). Help!?

I’m planning our annual Middle School Girl’s sleepover. Unfortunately I haven’t been a middle school girl for about 12 years. So, what sort of activities should be planned? I’ve got dinner, a talk, a movie, and that’s about it. What should we do? What are middle school girls into nowadays? Hanna Montana? I have no clue. HELP!!
Oh my gosh. GREAT ideas. You all ROCK!

Hanna Montana is a little childish for middle school girls (true they probably all watch it, but will not admit it). Lets see….Wehn i went to youth group events. we would watch a movie. dinner. I remember my pastor used to bring up contemporary christian issues alot at gatherings. I suggest playing games such as twister, catch phrase, taboo, scene it…etc stuff like that. also, alot of girls are getting into video games now a days, i would see if you know anyone who has a wii or playstation and try to play guitar hero, ddr…stuff like that. Well, good luck, have fun. Trust me, girls will be girls and have fun with or without planned activities.

Does MIT look at middle school grades?

I’m an eighth grader in Calculus 1 (not so ordinary, as you can see). I have been getting all As in the math courses, A-s and As in science, and if it matters, the lowest grade I got was a B- in english. Would they look at this, if yes, then would this be good?

No, colleges don’t care what you did before 8th grade except in very specific circumstances, like taking calculus before starting high school. If those grades appear on your high school transcript, they’ll see them – if they don’t, they won’t. But you’ll have to start taking college math classes next – or just go to college.

do colleges look into more of your of middle school grades or high school? PLEASE HELP!?

I’m really scared that I’m not going to get into a good college because I had horrible grades in 6th and 7th grade because I was going though bad family and emotional issues that stressed me out and i had learning complications. it’s 8th grade now and My averages are only up to B’s and C’s and I’m trying my hardest to get an A average by the end of my first quarter in 8th grade and I’m scared to slip up again.

    help me?

They will look at grades 9-12. If 9th grade is in middle school then they’ll want that, but they don’t care about 6-8

What are the average grades in a middle school?

It sounds like a dumb question, I know, I know, but I was on fmylife.com (I know, not the best source for an educational reference), and someone commented "In the US, its pretty hard to find a middle school that is 6-8"

Every single (public) middle school in my county is 6-8 (and the neighboring counties).
People are saying middle school is 4-8, and elementary is K-3rd.
    I’m confused.

When I went to middle school, my school was at first 7-9th grade, but then they changed it to having 6th & 7th grade in one building, then 8th & 9th in another. Elementary schools where I live are K-5.

    Middle school grades?

    My grades in middle school
    Social Studies: 91, B.
    Math: 88, B.
    Language Arts: 95, A.
    Computer Skills: 90, B.
    Gym: 94, A.
    SCIENCE: 82, C!

I’m only in 8th grade, and I know my grades do not count in the eyes of colleges. My only worry is that my dad will freak out about my C, and I’m getting a lot of Bs. I could try harder, I just feel so overwhelmed.

-I’m not trying to blame my science teacher or anything, but she’s bipolar and is really hard to deal with because if I ask her a question she will blow up.-

How should I explain to my dad that I’m trying my best in science, but my teacher is hard to handle and I’m just not good at it?

    Also, are my grades good?
    at my school, a B is an 85. anything below an 85 is a C. :(
Katie L: she IS medically bipolar. i was being serious.

Even though your middle school grades don’t "count" for colleges, it’s the last chance you have before they DO start counting, so I applaud you for taking them seriously. Keep up the hard work! And your dad just wants to see you succeed now so you won’t be overwhelmed by high school.

I know that it is sometimes scary to ask your teachers questions. But I am a high school teacher, and I have a secret for you…teachers LOVE it when students ask good questions! Teachers never expect a student to understand everything 100% the first time around (it’s impossible!) so when you ask questions, it means that you are paying attention and thinking hard about what they are trying to teach you. Don’t YOU like it when you know people are listening to what you have to say? :)

However, what teachers don’t like is when students ask questions that prove that they have not been paying attention. They don’t mind explaining something in more detail, but they don’t like to have to repeat what they just said because someone was talking to their friend or zoning out. It would be like going home telling your parents a long story about something exciting that happened at school, and then the first thing they say is "So, did anything exciting happen at school today?"

When my students are struggling and ask for help, I want to see that they are doing their fair share of "trying" before I can give them any answers. So, when you ask your teacher questions, do you just say "I don’t get it," and leave it at that? You have to be specific about what you don’t understand.

Are you paying attention and doing all of the homework and reading? Looking in your book or notes for help? (Believe it or not, homework and class assignments aren’t assigned just because the teacher "feels like it," but because they help you practice for the next day’s class and for the tests.) Say to your teacher, "I understood when you said [X], but then when I went home to do the worksheet, I got stuck on [Y]. Can you explain this concept?" Another thing you can try is asking your teacher for study tips if you’re having a hard time on the tests. They can tell you the best way to prepare.

If you are trying your absolute hardest in science and STILL don’t get it, THEN maybe it’s the time to see if you can do any extra credit. But, it’s not fair to ask for that if you’re not doing all the other stuff the teacher assigns to the best of your ability.

Be honest with your dad about your grades and why they are. Maybe your dad can help you talk to your teacher if she is difficult to deal with (But please, don’t use the word "bipolar" unless someone really is medically bipolar) One C is definitely NOT the end of the world, especially when it’s just an 82, but if you think you can be getting a B, then you should be getting a B! It’s only going to get harder in the future, so all the hard work you do now will pay off, since you’ll be ready for it.

    Middle School GRades?

Posted by admin on February 17th, 2010 and filed under middle school grades | 2 Comments »

Hi, I am in the eight grade, was wondering if middle school grades matter for highschool. I am an straight A student, an I am very smart. But, this year, I’m in the second trimester and I feel lazy. Does it matter to universities if I get some B’s on my report card. Does an Ivy Leauge school require 4.0 GPA is middle. I know I can do well in highschool If i try. But how about this year

It depends on your Middle School/High School. A lot of schools look at your grades to determine placement for High School. As for college, I don’t think Middle School grades matter. High School grades matter for sure though.
