  • Do middle school grades count for college?

Posted by admin on February 13th, 2010 and filed under middle school grades | 8 Comments »

Or do only high school grades count for college? Or is it neither?

Only high school GPA counts for college. However, if you do better in middle school, then you can take more advanced classes in high school, usually leading to taking AP classes in your senior year, which can save you loads of money in college by earning yourself credits in advance.

So it’s still a good idea to not slack off in Middle School. Not to mention it helps build the skills you need to get that GPA that actually counts in High School.

Does freshmen year count for college? And middle school math? What grades do you need for colleges?

What if my middle school grades and my freshmen year grades were terrible? Some A’s, lots of B’s, some C’s, and a D in all. I plan to work really, really hard next year, as well as in my junior and senior year. I seriously want nothing more than to get great grades after this because I know I can do better and I did so bad already. There are also my math grades on my transcript from middle school which are very bad. And it makes my grades look even worse. I really DON’T want to go to community college at all. It’s like my main goal to get to a good college and not go to a commuity college. Also does freshmen year really count? I really plan to get all A’s and B’s from here. And I’m taking good classes next year- AP Bio and all honors except for math.
Did I already mess up everything, though? Or, if I get really good grades, can I still go to a good college like UC Berkeley? Can I even go to a Cal State?

Your goal to go to college is great, and your desire to improve your GPA is excellent.

Your freshman year of high school is figured in the total GPA used to apply for colleges and universities. (Grades from school years prior to that are not used.) If that is a problem, you can do a few things to remedy poor grades from your freshman year. You can get good grades in 10th–12th grade, obviously. You can take rigorous courses, which you must do well in. And, in some school districts, you can repeat classes or take additional classes that will be figured into your GPA. If you take easier classes or repeat classes during summer or through online school, you can improve your GPA, sometimes significantly. Talk to a school counselor at your high school to find out what options are available in your district.

    Good luck!

Will my grades from middle school effect the chances of getting into a good prep school?

My family and I have been talking about enrolling in a college-prep boarding school (more preferably in the east coast).

I am a 9th grader now, but last year my GPA was 2.93 (I really didn’t try). And because of that I got a C+ in the place of 9th grade math (honors last year). Will that effect my chances of getting into a good school? But as of so far this year, my lowest grade is a b+ which i can hopefully pull up even more.

We’re hoping to get enrolled by fall of 09.

So, are the middle school grades going to be too big of a factor?

you should ask the school you’re going to.

if not, your grades should just affect what classes you get.

    Middle School grades help?

Im in the 8th grade at my middle school. Last year in 7th grade i got straight As in all my classes the entire year. My 1st quarter in the 8th grade is over tomorrow and we get our report cards. I think im getting a B in history. Im paranoid about it. After high school i want to go to college and become a doctor. Is it okay for me to get a B? Because i always get As.

B’s are great…don’t worry about 8th…worry about 9th through 12th because those grade are what they will be looking for.

Do middle school grades count for Harvard or another high-end university? Pls 10 pts!?

I’m in the 10th grade, and my plan is to go to a upscale university such as harvard or yale, although I’m still choosing between business and engineering. I’m currently privately homeschooled and statistics say that homeschoolers have a greater chance of getting into a university, and my GPA these past two years have been at 4.00…although I totally blew middle school (2.67 6th grade, same for 7th and 3.00 for 8th), until I strapped up my boots and decided I was going to study.

So even with those (awful) middle school grades, can I still get into harvard, yale, stanford, princeton, or another University???

    Thanks
So then besides GPA, what else do they do, do they test in different areas? what areas do they test in?

They don’t count your grades in 7th grade or 8th grade.
They start looking at them at 9th – 12th grade.

Do my middle school grades count for colleges?

Im in 8th grade, and for the last to 3 years, my grades have been sucking. My parents don’t reward me so I don’t really have anything to push me to get good grades. But I’m really trying to get good grades, straight A’s actually, and so far that’s going well. But I was wondering if my middle school grades even count, or is it just high school. I’m still going to get good grades anyway, I’m just worried if the last few years are going to ruin my work. So if I got all A’s for the rest of this year and high school, could I still get into a really good college? Do colleges even look at middle school grades?

It depends. Some schools count several high school level courses that are advanced for 8th graders into your transcript. Also, sometimes foreign language tests taken at the end of 8th grade carry over. But most of the time they don’t. Check with your guidance counselor.

Also, most colleges would rather see a student improve than not getting better. Just focus from now on and you’ll be fine. Glad to see some young kids thinking about their future!

Will my grade in Middle school effects my opportunity to get in good college?

What about high school..how will it be counted
If you get recognize in middle school .Will they know about it in college?
Does middle school grade count AT ALL or just a little bit?
    thankx
I’m in 7th grade and i have As & Bs
I really need scholar ship to get into good college so will it effect much or anything at all?
    thankx

Colleges DO NOT see middle school grades. All universities require a high school transcript (which is just like a big report card of all of your grades from 9-12 grade). High school grades are important though, very very important. But, if you take high school classes in middle school, then they will carry over to high school and colleges may see them.
I know how you feel about scholarships. I’m in 12th grade and I’m applying to colleges now. It’s so expensive. But, there is so much scholarship money out there. But it’s really good that you’re already thinking about this stuff now. That’s just how I was. I picked out my college in like 9th grade. You’re doing great right now and keep it up. Your future seems really bright, good luck!

How can i get good grades in middle school and succeed?

Posted by admin on January 18th, 2010 and filed under middle school grades | 2 Comments »

I really, really want to get more awards and pass math and do better than ever than i’ve done in elementary. I am determined and ready to pass test, homework and pass EVERYTHING. But, i have a hard time studying. Does anybody know some REALLY good ways to succeed?

Yes, i am a junior high student, and here are some ways that i use to study:
    >Rewrite notes (just like if some one told you to write your name 50 times you would have it memorized:)
    >If you are trying to memorize something, make connections with a thing or person to help remember…. like if cherries remind you of china…you would remember…
    >STUDY in advance…If a teacher tells you that you have a test on friday, and it is monday, and you know what to study, then STUDY! That has happened to me before, and i didn’t study until the night before, and i didn’t get a very good grade….Thank goodness for retakes!
    >also, you could ask about honors… or a page program…or just do all of your work thoroughly.

    I hope that helped :)

    Middle School Grades?

Posted by admin on January 15th, 2010 and filed under middle school grades | 1 Comment »

Hello my son recently transfered to a new middle school about 4 weeks before the end of their 1st semester and we brought his current grades with him and he is saying his teachers didnt give him a grade because he didnt go to school long enough there,, so im guessing he will just get his grades he had in his old middle school? or is it possible he gets nothing? plz help

Sounds like he would get the grades from his old middle school, but I would talk to his old school principal to ask for sure. If he can’t help, check with the new school after repeating what he said. I’m sure something can be worked out, and although middle school grades are important, as long as he continues I don’t think anyone will check that year’s specific grades until highschool.
