I know that colleges can’t see the grades for middle school courses. However, can colleges see the grades of high school classes that I took in high school? I took Algebra in sixth grade, Geometry in seventh grade, and Algebra 2 in eighth grade. Will colleges be able to see those grades, even though I took them in middle school?
They only want your HS transcript. However, these grades and credits will show up on your HS transcript if they are needed for graduation.
I just started Middle School, grade 7 on Monday! I’m so nervous and stressed! Its been 4 days and it feels like a month. Plus, I trying to be organized but I have no room in my locker! Help! I wanna get good grades, and I’m in ALGEBRA and AP language arts!! Help!
OMG GUYZZ thx i wish i could choose ALL of these as a best answer.
i do remember the beginning of 7th grade being stressful. (and since when do they do AP in middle school?? no wonder you’re stressed!) haha no im kidding, i’m sure you will be fine. I took algebra in 7th grade too and it was no big deal, people just make it sound like that. the year overall did go pretty smoothly.
work hard, but don’t worry too much about your grades–unlike high school, no college will ever see them.
as per the locker, get one of those little mesh shelves. You may be able to leave some books at home or in the classroom too.
i have been getting pretty bad grades every sense 4th grade and i like to get a’s abd b’s so i need some one to tell me how can i get good grades again please help me out
Do your homework. In those years homework is worth alot of points so it helps to do every assignment, that way if u dont do to well on tests you can still get Bs…but if u do your homework right everynight you learn the material which helps better your knowledge and test scores in general.
I have gotten mostly all As and Bs until this year in 8th grade, where I have gotten a few Ds, Cs, and less Bs and As. I am pretty sure that next year in high school I will be able to get my grades up, but will anything bad happen because of the grades I have been getting recently?
Also, any help about how to survive high school would help! Lol
Thanks!
Nope- when you get to high school you get to start fresh grade wise.
But you might do the same things that got you bad grades in middle school so be careful! If you want to go to a good college, its a lot easier to maintain a good GPA than try to rescue a bad one.
My biggest tip would be to ask for help as soon as you get confused about anything. Its a lot easier for a tutor to explain one confusing question than to try to catch you up on a whole semester’s worth of material you never fully mastered.
Hi, I was wondering if there was a nice over 600 student high school in NY that would be pretty good for my brother. His zoned school is John Bowne High School, and I’ve heard some pretty bad things about it. So, I was wondering, what school could he apply to with grades in the low 70s?
Thank you!
You brother should have a high school book with all the high schools in the 5 boroughs of NY toward the end of 7th grade. According to my high school book you are from Queens. John Bowne High School has 3326 students. The average scores on the english regent is 65.50% and the math regent is 69.50%, which is not very good. Here are some schools that requires a 70 average to get in.
August Martin High School
Beach Channel High School
Far Rockaway High School
Flushing High School
Franklin K. Lane High School
Grover Cleveland High School
John Adams High School
Long Island City High School
Newtown High School
Queens Vocational And Technical High School
Richmond Hill High School
Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Secondary School For Arts and Technology
William Cullen Bryant High School
I just got an A- in science and I’m in 7th grade. Will people that consider me for their college ever look at our middle school grades?
I’ve never heard of anyone going back further than high school grades. I cannot state that it *never* happens, as I don’t know the admission policies of all of the colleges/universities in the world.
It wouldn’t make any sense to do so, since the grades wouldn’t reflect recent work (compared with the application date). Nor would those grades suggest the applicant’s ability to do college-level work. The later is really what the admission committee ultimately wants to decide.
^^^^^^^
no, colleges just look at GPA, and high school classes starting in 11th grade.
My friend and I always have this argue over collages. I have been getting all A’s and i’m a honor student at my middle school but i was thinking on not focusing on my grades now because high school is where it really matters. I still have A’s but i have one B. I want to have a successful life and get a good education but its not like i want to go to Harver or anything.
colleges are more interested in your high school records…. not only what grades you get but also the difficulty level of the classes you take….. an A in PE for example will not weigh as highly as an A in calculus. they also look at ACT and SAT scores…. good scores can even get you great scholarships! taking higher level classes and challenging yourself (even if that means you get a B every once in a while) will pay off in the future.
It’s been nearly a month, since school started, and my grades:
Language Arts — 85
Study Skills — 100
Science — 87
Math — 65
Social Studies — 85
Reading — 73
What should I do to improve my grades?
Well your worst mark seems to be math therefore my rec commendation is the following. I know typically people say that you can’t study math but that is not true. Try to read the math homework questions that were taken up and then write them down on a separate sheet of paper and answer them on your own. Practice answering questions and review the formulas on a daily basis. Never pile up your work. Try to study and prepare things ahead of time.
Lately the 6-8 middle school seems to be the most popular grade span, however I just recenly heard about a 5-7 span. It sounded weird at first, but then I thought about it and realized that these grades seem to be experiencing many of the same developmental and emotional changes. Eighth graders a lot of times seem out of place in a 6-8 school. What do you think? Has anyone experienced such a set-up?
This would be the district organization: K-4, 5-7, 8-9, 10-12
not really, i think its in the 7-8 grade period where students start to develop and change. the 5-7 doesnt seem to fit together with younger teens who haven’t experienced much things as older teens who have experienced much more and grown up to know certain things.
