Middle school? Are you doing algebra?

Is it $25 off or 25% off?

If $25 off, then the price is $55 + $25 or $80.

If 25% off, then what is $55 75% of. That is, if 25% off–then price is 75%. So take $55 divide it by 75 and multiply by 100.

If you’re going to charge money you should be at least two years ahead of the students you are teaching (and be very good at math).

I’m looking into teacher middle school math and I just would like to know what the rode ahead consists of. I love math, interacting with others, and teaching people. I just don’t want to jump into a career without hearing from people who is related to this field. Thanks

I am a middle school math teacher of 20 years.

It is unclear what you mean by demands. Early in my career, I had no choice as to what I teach. Now that I have some years, I do get certain choice in classes – but in Middle school, there are only a few options.

Certainly – like other teacher – we are expected to design curriculum based on state standards, create assessments, include parents, offer reinforcement to those who need as well as enrichment. The same things all other teachers must do – The state requires us to continue our education forever – I already have a masters degree, and every other summer, I take a course at UCLA – just to keep up with the requirements. The summers I am not in a mth class, I must take some sort of district training.

New teachers often feel very overwhelmed by the workload. Planning, assessing and grading 130 kids – who in math class – often turn in multiple papers per day – is quite a bit of takehome work.

If you would clear up what you mean by demands – i could add more.

Math comes easily to me so I could probably learn what I need to fast.

Can I accomplish this in a year? Or how long would it take? I’m from Illinois. Thanks!

You should be able to do a Masters degree in education to teach in a public school.

I know the market here is slim pickings, and I am very fortunate to have a job. How is the job market for a middle school math/science teacher in Colorado?

I just left Colorado due to a military move and I miss it terribly. Math scores are extremely low, so there seems to be a lot of turnover and/or math specialists being hired. As far as jobs, it depends on where you want to go. I’d start looking at which cities you want to live in and then look up what school districts are in that city. I was in Colorado Springs where there were probably 8 local school districts.

1) The area of a circle is 64*pi square centimeters. What is the circumference of the circle?

2) The circumference is 12*pi feet. What is the area of the circle?

area = pi * r^2
64 pi = pi * r^2

divide both sides by pi and they cancel each other out, so you’re left with
r^2 = 64
r = sqrt(64)
r = 8 <– radius

circumference = 2 * pi * r
circumference = 2 * pi * 8
circumference = 16 * pi

circumference = 12 * pi
2 * pi * r = 12 * pi

divide both sides by pi and they cancel each other out, so you’re left with
2 * r = 12
r = 6 <– radius

area = pi * r^2
area = pi * 6^2
area = 36 * pi

The number of mice in Pedro’s barn is inversely proportional. When there are 48 mice in his barn, he owns 5 cats. He increases the number of cats he owns to 8. How many mice are in the barn when Pedro owns 8 cats? Use an equation Pedro can use to find any number of mice, m, when he owns any number of cats, c.

Yaya is wrong. Even though my initial approach was like hers it is not logical as increasing cats should decrease the mice and the question states it is inversely proportional.

When i see these problem first i go with my intuition

lets analyze the problem here

48 mice and 5 cats.

The number of mice is inversely proportional to the number of cats. That means more the mice less the cats.

In this question the number of cats are increased. So the number of mice will be decrease.

48 mice ∝ 1 / 5 cats

Now let k be a constant

48 mice = 1/5 cats

5*48 = 240 = k

The constant is k.

Now remember

x mice ∝ 1/ 8 cats

Now using constant value

x mice = 240*1/8
x mice = 30

So when there are 8 cats he has 30 mice.

When he had 48 mice he had 5 cats.

So your equation can be

240* 1/ Number of Cats = Number of mice.

Only thing i can’t explain to you in this problem is the proportionality. I read this a long time ago in a algebra book. I haven’t learned it in school. So i am sorry. But the answer is 30 mice for 8 cats and the constant k = 240.

Equation = 240/Number of cats = Number of mice!

Hope that helps! Good luck!
