My mom teaches middle school students, and her and the other teachers are thinking about how to reward the students. This will include 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. They’re going to do a reward a day. So far they have dodgeball tournaments and karaoke. The teachers are having a hard time thinking of some more rewards. Any suggestions?

A big party? After I finished CST in 6th grade, the teacher threw a party for us. Though in your case, it’s gonna be a little difficult as it includes all three grades.
Or a dance. That’s the best option if it’s all three grades.

Hope that helps ;P

I run an after school program. It only runs about an hour to an hour and a half, a project should be one that is going to be completed in about two sessions (three hours)

what is a project that my students could do?

materials need to be less than a dollar a student– there are about 30 students, about 7 of them are autistic.

since more than half the costs are coming from my own pocket, i can’t spend too much.

i would also like my students to learn a project that is inspired from a famous artist. ex- picasso style self portraits, etc.

thanks for your help!
the autistic students have one on one help–so they are able to do more elaborate projects.

i would try a project that lets the kids be really creative and focus on painting what they feel. try cubism. anyone can do it and its fun for the kids to see what they can find in others students work. some basic crayola paint, markers, and crayons plus paper is all u need, besides maybe cubism pictures from the internet.

The Al-Kitaab fii Ta’allum al-’Arabiyya series with DVDs is probably the best for MSA and can be purchased on Amazon.com. There is a supplemental book in the series called Alif Baa, which is for learning the script.

There are other textbooks that are geared towards younger students so you should check Amazon, just search "Arabic textbook". But the problem is some of them don’t have reviews. Al-Kitaab is the one used mostly in college courses and probably the most thorough and trusted. You should look through it at a college bookstore and see if you think it would be suitable for students that age.

middle school is really early to be looking at colleges. Colleges only see you grades from high school, not from middle school. If you want to go to Harvard, you’re going to need to be close to first in your class, straight A’s all the way through high school, and at least 2300 on your SATs. Good luck.

I doubt that all adults or even most think the way that you think that they do, The frequent calls to your home are probably made for either discipline problems or because the school wants to see academic improvement.

I would imagine 100% of middle school students are subject to some form of peer pressure. Remember, peer pressure can be in the form of "big" things such as going to a party with alcohol or taking a puff of a cigarette…or it could be "smaller" things (less noticeable) like telling a lie or doing someone else’s homework. Also, peer pressure is usually talked about with a negative connotation, but peer pressure can also be positive. Friends can pressure you into doing the right thing, too!

try gurl.com. I used to go to that website all the time when I was in middle school. Its pretty fun. they have a message board that girls post art and poems and photographs that they have done. theres also advice and polls. There’s a lot more to do there and I would definitely try that site out.
