I used both . Wide-ruled so if teachers say to write an essay , I wouldn’t have to write my hands off, because I wouldn’t be writing as much like if I used college ruled . College ruled for notes , so then when you’re writing notes, you don’t really have to waste paper . It helped me a lot in school when I used both . Good luck

I’ve tried everything I can think of…. I’m just looking for some fresh ideas. My students are typically poor and education is the furthest thing from their minds. I REALLY want these guys to excel in school and truly value their education so that they can be prosperous and successful one day (as many of them are capable of doing).

I just need some fresh ideas on motivating these kiddos. Thanks, everyone!

Unfortunaly I came from this demographic and each and every one of those kids will be diffrent so no matter what solution you come up with there will still be something holding those kids back.
I left school in year 7 I wish so bad that I didnt, however I am now at university completeing a B/A in social science. Motivation is still an issue however I now the importance of succeeding so thats what drives me.

One thing could be is to look at each student seperatly look at there needs and desires taylor the way you address them accordingly.
From experience I could not of been motivated with examples of success because i wasnt confident enough in my own ways.
I think that maby if one of my teachers had of taken the time to sit down and look at the way I learn and not try and force feed me there processes, I probably would of been able to put things together and develope the confidence I needed in my self to learn and stay at school.
I still cant spell or properly read and I cant tell the time from an analog clock but I do know how to learn my way and that helps me stay motivated along with spell check.

I guess im just trying to say everyone is so diffrent and not everybody learns and develops in the same way but if You tell them what they need to know and let them process things in there own way then ask them to express what they have learnt in there own way and tell them to have fun with it, from my own feelings I think you will have success.
Teaching would have to one of the hardest professions…..sorry for the spelling mistakes.

To the best of my knowledge, the US State Department won’t allow a student under 15 to go on exchange. I also don’t know of any country or reputable program that will accept an exchange student who is under 15 (some would prefer over 16).

I have never heard of Renga poetry, but to decide if it’s a good fit, you would need to check the curriculum guide for your state/province. There is so much required content to teach for exams that there’s not much room for anything extra. It would only be a good subject to teach if it helps the students achieve the grade-level standards.

I want topics that wouldn’t require any research for my students. Just real simple topics so they can get used to the PowerPoint program.

P.S. Here are some free PowerPoint templates you can download.

I am teaching a band class outside of school do kids from 11-13 years old for more advanced middle school students. Does any one have any suggestions about songs or even games I can play with the kids? Preferably music/rhythm related games. And middle school advanced music. Not high school level yet. Maybe some Disney stuff or something they’d be interested in and have fun playing. Thank you so much!!!

I’d ask the kids to bring in instrumental stuff that they like. It would teach them the concept. If there are no words it can’t really be offensive and you could learn a lot about their taste.
