are highschool/middle school teachers required to know about periods?

Posted by admin on November 22nd, 2011 and filed under middle school teachers | 4 Comments »

like do they have to know? or do they just kinda know because they are older and expierenced?

All teachers used to be students and all had 7th grade health where they all learned about the reproductive cycle. And they probably had to learn more about bodily changes for both sexes at various times in other health classes, including college. The married men would certainly know a lot and be comfortable with it from living with wives and daughters. The single men would also know about it from relations with girlfriends.

Is it part of formal teacher education? I don’t think so. At my school we had a second grade girl start her period, which is highly unusual. I remember it because she had been my kindergarten student. This was 25 years ago. It is safe to say that all elementary, middle school, and high school teachers know all about periods.

How would my friends and I be able to visit our old middle school teachers?

We are now in high school but would love to go see our old teachers sometime soon. But the thing is, do the front office ladies okay it? We would go after school’s out of course, but like…is it okay if we just go…? I don’t know if the front office people would tell us we couldn’t or think we’re weird…
    What do I do?!?!

No, where I’m from it’s not wierd. In fact, people do all the time…just be nice and they’ll probably let you go (as long it’s after school when teachers aren’t giving extra-help or in a meeting or something)

my question for you is…why would you ever want to go back to middle school???

How can my friends and I go to visit old middle school teachers?

We are in high school and would love to go back and see former teachers! But how do we do so? I don’t know if the school or front office would be okay with it…of course we’d go after the school day is over, but will they let us go around the school? What do we do?!?!?

It depends on your middle schools policy, in my district you have to make an appointment with the teacher your supposed to be going to visit its really dumb but odds are they will let you come without one.

Will we be able to get a visitors pass to see former middle school teachers?

My friends and I want to go visit our old school and see some teachers, but will the front office let us? I am freaking out cause I don’t want to go in there and them think we are all weird and not let us. But it is also something I really want to do. Help?

I don’t see why they won’t let you.
I’m a freshman and visited my teachers last week. The HS is right next to the MS. We just walked right over to the school. We had to wait until the 9th period bell rang, until we could go inside, so we didn’t disrupt any classes. They might want you to do the same, but I don’t think they wouldn’t let you in.

If I tried to kill myself in middle school, are my teachers in high school notified?

Posted by admin on August 22nd, 2011 and filed under middle school teachers | 4 Comments »

I’m just wondering if my guidance counselor in middle school found out that I tried to kill myself, are ALL my teachers in high school notified of this?

It will be in your school record and your teachers may or may not see it. On the other hand, if you are considered to be a danger to yourself or others the teachers may see your record. Nevertheless, your parents have a right to make theirs and your wishes known about this matter. If your parents are concerned, have them to call or better yet come in to see the counselor about it. Have your parents say that they disapprove of this school policy, and they believe that this violates their family’s rights of privacy and due process. However, it may be a school rule and a school law that the school must do this. They can demand to go to the School Board to aire their complaint. But again, your parents also have the right to hire an attorney to bring this issue to the school board as well.

If you and your parents are concerned about that information leaking out to others, they do have the option of dropping you out of this school and transferring to a private school if you are still dissatisfied with the public school handling of the incident. Your parents should make clear that the school board knows what their wishes are. Good luck.

Middle school teachers: How do you inspire a child who shows no interest in your class…?

That is, a child who tells you, "Why do I need to read Charles Dickens? I’m interested in carpentry. How is Charles Dickens going to help me build cabinets?

Organize a flowchart: He needs to read. reading is also needed in carpentry. How is he supposed to know what is needed for a cabinet when he himself can’t read? How is he going to analyze the instructions given or needed to be done if he can’t read. Tell him reading is essential for everyday life. It’s essential most especially blah blah blah. Tell him that reading would be essential to what he wants to achieve, in that way, he’d also focus on that since it’s also essential. A person wont bother eating if he or she doesnt know it’s really important. :)

How much do middle school and elementary school teachers get paid hourly in Ontario ?

Posted by admin on August 17th, 2011 and filed under middle school teachers | 1 Comment »

I am a grade 12 student who plans on going to university to get a bachelor of arts degree and bachelor of education. can I major in psychology and still teach middle school? I just wanted to know how much teachers make per hour, and if it’s easy to find a teaching job in Ontario canada. Thanks

No, you can not major in psychology and teach at a middle school–there are not classes in psychology that middle schoolers take.

Teachers do NOT get paid by the hour anywhere. It’s a contract rate for 9 months of work, spread out over 12 months or 24 pays.

Are middle school teachers in demand?

Posted by admin on August 15th, 2011 and filed under middle school teachers | 6 Comments »

I’ve heard mixed statements about this. I live in the southeast portion of the United States and am looking to become certified to teach middle school science and social studies. For any recent grads or teachers out there, will I have trouble finding a job? I could try to to teach math and science, maybe that would give me more of an edge? I will pick a best answer, please help!

Math and Science teachers tend to be more in demand across the country than any other since there are very few people who can teach them and pass the praxis tests for those subjects. Another thing that would help you when it comes time to find a job is to get some experience in the classroom prior to completing your student teaching. I am an English teacher and I got hired on my first interview and I had three other job offers after receiving my first one. Why? I had been a substitute teacher in the district for five years so a lot of the principals already knew who I was. From what I have seen, new teachers do get hired regardless of their major, but if the only classroom experience you have is student teaching you are going to have a lot harder time getting ahead of the pack. Good luck!
