  • How can we bring back middle school sports?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under middle school | 1 Comment »

Due to the recession, our middle school will be cutting out all middle school sports next year. My school is a very athletic school, and most things are sports centered and sports related. Without them, school won’t be as fun or interesting, and many of the things we normally do won’t happen because without the sports, there will be no reason to have them (Pep rallies, for example). What can we do to convince the state or school system to bring back our middle school sports?

start a petition. make a page that explains why you should have sports and get a LOT of people to sign it. explain on the page about why you think sports benefits you. if you get enough people to sign it im pretty sure they would reconsider getting rid of all sports. GOOD LUCK!

What are reasons middle school guys might have a crush on a girl?

Ok, I need a middle school guy to answer this. What do you guys notice in a girl, what are specific reasons you would have a crush on a girl, and what makes you want to ask a girl out? I just want to know.

Smiling, happy + gd looks girls + sweet voice makes boys go crazy. then maybe wear some clothes tt show ur legs and part of arms, i’ll like tt lol. gd grades r a plus they’ll get hard-ons and keep looking at u, and turn away when u look at them. and when they’re beside u, they’ll appear nervous(very obvious) and smile/laugh uncontrollably

What are some games to play at a middle school field day?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010 and filed under middle school | 1 Comment »

It is nearing the end of the school year and our middle school is planning a field day. There are around 200 kids in all from 5th grade – 8th grade, boys and girls. We (the kids) have been divided up into 12 teams and need 6 games to play. So far we have kickball, dodge ball, capture the flag, and an obstacle course. What else could we do that would be fun for the majority of kids? Other activites that are not included in the 6 games are cake decoration and a water balloon fight or something that has to do with water. Any ideas would be very helpful! Thank you!

volleyball , wheelbarrel races ( when someone holds someone else’s feet and the person being held crawls with their hands), you can also look on the internet for some fun games
( you have a really small school our jr. hiigh has 7th and eighth grade and its bigger and our school district is really small.)

Passing out prescription birthcontrol to middle school students, what do you think?

Posted by admin on February 17th, 2010 and filed under middle school | 22 Comments »

I heard on the radio this morning that this middle school in Oregon plans on distributing prescribed birth control to their students. School officials stated that the reason they’re planning to do this is because parents should not ignore the fact children in this age bracket are having sex. However, many parents argue that middle school students are too young to have birth control pills. The dj stated that he agrees with the parents. He also stated that he thinks it is ok to pass out birthcontrol pills to high school students. What do you think?

Honestly, excluding all the health risks, I agree. Somtime in the next year the male contraceptive is going to be realesed on the market, in the clinical trial it is 100% effective, among the several forms the the contraceptive comes in, one is a device that can be implanted in the arm (also removed at anytime reversing the contraceptive) and lasts for around nine years. I think that at fourteen boys should have this device implanted and removed at 24 when it wears out. I think that if we can find a way to give people in this country time to grow up and become educated we would have alot less problems in our society.

How is high school different from middle school?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under middle school | 2 Comments »

I’m going to a magnet high school and my mom assures me since it IS a magnet school it will be much different from a public high school. Is that true? I had a rather difficult time in middle school due to bullying. Is it going to be like that in my school?

    HELP!

if it is different from public school, your really lucky! Anyway i have no idea what a magnet school is like, but i do know that high school and middle are very different. You have so much more freedom and the people become more mature [even some of the guys] although some will never grow up. i think bullying will end for you if you are going to a magnet school since the kids probably are smart and beyond that kind of aimless cruelty. I think you will like it once you get used to it.

    Good Luck :]

What do middle school girls look for in a guy?

Posted by admin on February 13th, 2010 and filed under middle school | 1 Comment »

No offense anyone but this is a question for middle school girls. Hi, i’m a 8th grader at my middle school and I would like some tips on what girls look for in a guy. Im kind of shy and I have a crush on this other girl in my social studies class. And well if you could can you please tell me some tips on how to get her to like me. Thanks.

well. since i am in middle school i will try to tell you but don’t hurt me if its not true. i like guys who are nice and that aren’t concerned with looks.Guy that talk a lot to me and put on the act that we are just friends even though they like me. Guys that will be there even when you start to cry, and guys that won’t blow you off for any reason. I don’t really know what to tell you. Most girls like that aspect in guys though. Just a caring person that doesn’t mind listening to a few hours of emotional stuff. Try to think like a girl but don’t act like one. Bring her roses or something or another. I really don’t know. Maybe even ask her out on a date ,more like to the movies so that you guys can get better acquainted. If you really want to guarantee friendship you should just work your way into her group and act like your her friend. See where it can go from there ,but don’t be too pushy. As i said i am not really positive ,but thats what i want in a guy. I like guys who talk a lot too and are a bit clingish ,but most girls probably won’t like it so you shouldn’t cling onto her or call her everyday. hope this helps.

What is the difference between teaching in middle school and teaching in high school?

Posted by admin on February 13th, 2010 and filed under middle school | 2 Comments »

I am an undergrad right now studying English and I want to get a master’s in English Education. I don’t want to do Elementary School because I can’t deal with younger kids. I’m planning on doing secondary education but can’t decide between high school and middle school. What are the differences between teaching middle school and high school?

The students in middle school are much more energetic and difficult to control, you’re lucky to hold there attention for more than 20 minutes, they continually forget there homework and expect you to let them turn it in late yet they are still able to change and straighten up, given a teacher who is willing to work at it, at times you’ll feel more like a baby sitter than a teacher and will be the bad guy to all whenever you punish one.

High School students are more varied, some very dedicated to there work, some just want to goof off and get out and others are rebellious against the school. There minds are mostly made up so you would have trouble changing a students attitude toward something. High School students are also more likely to quiz you, if one knows something they think you don’t they’ll try to call you out on it and if they do the whole class will remember it.

So basically if you want to teach because you enjoy working with children middle school is the way to go, if you want to teach because you enjoy the subject and want others to learn it well then high school is the route to take.

What are really good songs for a middle/high school band to play?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under middle school | 3 Comments »

I am in band at Pattengill Middle School, but in Music in the Parks last year, we beat a lot of high schools, we are really good. What are some cool songs we could play?
I don’t really want like movies
We are a concert band, flute, clarinet, trombone, tuba, euphonium, trumpet/cornet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, french horn, and percussion

If you’re really good, you could play Pearl Harbor. We played it last year, and it’s such an emotional piece.

We also played a piece, I forgot the name of it, but it was a composition of a lot of famous Jazz songs, such as Puttin’ On the Ritz.

How can I make friends in middle school?

Posted by admin on February 1st, 2010 and filed under middle school | 3 Comments »

Well its been 7 weeks at my middle school and I’m really shy. I have friends IN class but between classes I’m all lonely. So what are some tips to help me get friends or in a group?
I’m 12 and I am more conferable around girls. I’m also gay.

    WELLL
middle school if you haven’t figured out can be

the make or break point for many young adults.

this is when most of the friend making and bonding occurs which lasts into high school.

    not some tips…..

So you have friends "in class" but when classes change there’s no one to talk to correct?

fidn a few people in a couple of your classes that possible go the same direction and you share a commom interests with.

the biggest problem for you is being REALLY SHY.
you gotta break right out of that and meet new people.

obviously you can’t be too shy if you post this question in a possibility of gettin a crappy answer to get embarassed over.

that’s all being shy is.. the fear of gettin embarassed.

you kindof have to just learn to get over it. talk to new people, make new friends, have "hang out" seesions after school.

oh that’s a good way to know people. if some of your class mates live near you. possibly try to get with them after schoola nd introduce you to their friends.

you just gotta get with a certain person to get into a group.

and when your walkin through the halls….
    here’s a couple do’s & don’t

    DON"T
    * walk with your head down (lack of confidence)
    * run or walk fast to class (makes a person look like a loser)
    * carry a lot of books at once. make recent stops to locker and carry as few items as possible. avoid stuffin backpack. it looks funny. and when you get to hgh school nobody carries a backpack.

    DO
    * show confidence. approach new people & girls
    * take time going to class ( stop at locker, go to water fountain) theres’ no rush.
    * greet all your "buds" in the hallway at they walk by. but dont’ do it to everyoe cause then people will notice and it’s weird. just close friends
    * also dress is important to be quite honest. idk how old you are exactly… but like don’t come to school with black finger nail polish stuff liek that. it looks weird. ya know dress normal with jeans & shirt.

    hope i helped =)
