Posted by admin on February 17th, 2010 and filed under online middle school | 4 Comments »

It’s already the school year but can I join one? I am in 8th grade and really want to go to an online school. Can I join one at this time in the year? I live in Colorado just so you know. Any help?

Sure, most schools will accept you if they have spots available. Contact the school you are interested in and talk to them about your situation.

There are many free online schools. Try K12, Connections Academy and Kaplan. Here are the basics to get you started with homeschooling. http://www.canihomeschool.blogspot.com

K-12 Or Middle School Online Schools?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under online middle school | 1 Comment »

What Are Some Good Online Schools?? I Live In New York, I Want To Go To School Online Instead Of Public School…. I’m Currently In 7th Grade

My son is in 7th grade and attends through Connections Academy. This is our first year, but it is a very good school. If you go onto their site, you can see if it is in your state www.connectionsacademy.com
If they are not available, you can check through your state’s department of education. They may show virtual options or have a way to search their site or call them to see.

so what does everyone think? should i do online school, or stay at my middle school?

Posted by admin on February 13th, 2010 and filed under online middle school | 4 Comments »

well the online program would be WAVA which is washington virtual academy. the reason i want to do online so bad is because the people at my school bug me and (im not saying im way more mature than them) but they are way to immature for me i think. with online i would be able to work on what i want, when i want, and if im sick or something i wont be left behind. what do you think i should do?

You can not avoid people. One of the pluses about school is you test your ability to stay true to yourself around a bunch of people who do not know who they are and are just down right wild! You actually learn people/communication skills in school!

Study ! Study! and Study again!

Talk to the teachers after school. Get a million note books. Compare notes with other smart people. Listen above all else listen. Repeat what the teacher says in your head and write down what you learned when you get home. Repetition. You need those skills for college and medical careers!!!! You need people skills with many professions. Lawyers are centered around it doctors must know how to talk with patients and their fam.

And another thing. I think that it is awesome that you are more mature than them. Don’t stoop down to their immaturity. Know in the back of your mind that they will need the assistance if they don’t turn their lives around for the better. They need help maturing. That is partially the parents’ job but mostly their own when they come to the "ah ha" moment in the teen years. Think about what Paul said "when I was a child I spake as a child…" in I Corinthians 13 (there it talks about love) "but when I became a man I put away childish things."

Part of being a good leader is standing out in the crowd but still realizing that everyone does not get everything as quickly as you do. Like in sports , it might take me a day or 3 to learn how to do a left hand ed backward layup but the average person it might take years. It might take a 5′7 guy 5 weeks to dunk but me only 4 inches shorter and a girl it would take a life time! (okay the last one wasn’t so good but you get the point)

    Hope this helped

and online middle school never heard of such

If all else fail go to another school

Kids are like that almost everywhere but some are worse or better than others.

    God Bless!

    Online middle school ?

My friend Anna hates her school she is very shy and moral so she hates middle school ( its a new school ,she moved to canada) So can you tell me different links to send to her or you can tell me how much each day at classes how long the class days are , is it just text or video call and links for her to sign up for next year .

You said your friend moved to Canada. I am not sure if this will affect the answers I will give you, for they are all based in the states, with one exception- this first suggestion.

K12 International Academy goes from K up to 12th grade, so it would cover both middle school and Canada, and have the advantage that she wouldn’t need to switch to another school for high school.

There are several curriculum suppliers that offer online classes for middle school. K12 if you purchase it independently, University of Missouri, and University of Nebraska are the three that I know of right off the top of my head, but there are many more! You would have to check with the last two to see if they take students from outside the USA, and if there are any legal restrictions in Canada to homeschooling or enrolling in private schools that are online.

Online education is definately growing in popularity. Each school really is different in the amount of workload, whether the class offers a teacher that uses a video conference, Elluminate or other mass meeting tool for the internet classes. Some have textbooks to work from; others have lessons that just get read off the computer or a download. Some have set meeting times for the class to meet online; others have the student working independently and just turning work in. My son’s online classes has online quizzes that he takes, and papers that he emails to his teacher for grading, and most of the communication is by email.

I’ve included links for three options I mentioned. The U of N one is for the high school, but I know they have a catalog of middle school classes as well.

    Best of wishes,
    Shelley

is there a way to go to middle school online?

im in middle school but i really dont wanna go to school is there a way i can do middle school online or what can i do

    Hi,

    Here is a list of a few good on-line academic schools: www.thegraceacademy.org www.themorningstaracademy.org www.timeforlearning.com

Personally, I recommend one of the first two. These are just a few of many, many on-line schools. Google search "on-line academic middle/high schools" or something of the sort, to search for your options. If possible, have your parent/guardian help you search and come to make a decision together. If you are trying to do some research on your own to give to your parent/guardian, have them read all of the "FAQ" that are provided on the websites listed above. You can also personally contact these on-line schools via phone, chat and e-mail to receive further information.

*Note – you will probably need to take your GED to help aid in getting into college through these on-line schools. I encourage you to contact them directly for this information.

Please do not hesitate to send me a message concerning this. :)

Ryan9 – hope I could be of good help

Is it possible to start going to online school during the middle of a school year?

Posted by admin on February 1st, 2010 and filed under online middle school | 2 Comments »

I’m a freshman in minnesota and I get sick a lot so right now I think it would be easier for me to go to an online school so I wouldn’t fall behind as easily. Would it be possible for me to switch before this school year ends?

Each school has its own rules about it. You can compare their rules and students feedback here – schools.iblogger.org
