Of course, if you bombed your middle school classes, that would affect your placement in high school classes. If you took a lot of low-level or remedial classes in high school, that would not look good on your transcript when you applied to college. References :
Colleges don’t look at middle school grades, but if you are not doing well in middle school you can be grouped with students who also are not doing well and it can be difficult to get the college prep classes you need and you might miss out on the skills necessary to do well in college. Each year kind of builds on the next so each year is important for a whole lot more than just grades.
