Your goal to go to college is great, and your desire to improve your GPA is excellent.

Your freshman year of high school is figured in the total GPA used to apply for colleges and universities. (Grades from school years prior to that are not used.) If that is a problem, you can do a few things to remedy poor grades from your freshman year. You can get good grades in 10th--12th grade, obviously. You can take rigorous courses, which you must do well in. And, in some school districts, you can repeat classes or take additional classes that will be figured into your GPA. If you take easier classes or repeat classes during summer or through online school, you can improve your GPA, sometimes significantly. Talk to a school counselor at your high school to find out what options are available in your district.

Good luck!
