It sounds like a dumb question, I know, I know, but I was on fmylife.com (I know, not the best source for an educational reference), and someone commented "In the US, its pretty hard to find a middle school that is 6-8"
Every single (public) middle school in my county is 6-8 (and the neighboring counties).
People are saying middle school is 4-8, and elementary is K-3rd.
I’m confused.
When I went to middle school, my school was at first 7-9th grade, but then they changed it to having 6th & 7th grade in one building, then 8th & 9th in another. Elementary schools where I live are K-5.

My school is 7-12, and there are a lot that are 1-8 in my area. It all depends on the school itself. I would guess the stereotypical grades are 1-6th, maybe including kinder too.
