  • How do I become a Middle School science teacher in NJ with a MA in Commmunications?

Posted by admin on November 21st, 2009 and filed under middle school science | 2 Comments »

Would I have to "start over" with schooling again? Or is there an easier way with the Alternate route? my BA is communications also

Well, you probably don’t but what you can do is check with the NJ Education Board to see what qualifications you need to teach first, then to see the qualifications needed to teach a particular subject. As a minimum you need a B.A. in education, but other B.A.s can cover down if the right courses are there. Once your course requirements can be determined through a transcript, the Board can determine if you need to take additional courses to qualify. Once you complete those courses, you need to have a licensure, or a teaching certificate. The link below will assist you with that and good luck:

You’ll need to get a teaching license in NJ, which will probably require you to take some additional courses, but not entirely start over.

Type in your state and it gives you that state’s requirements
