There is a supplemental book in the series called Alif Baa, which is for learning the script. There are other textbooks that are geared towards younger students so you should check Amazon, just search "Arabic textbook". But the problem is some of them don't have reviews. Al-Kitaab is the one used mostly in college courses and probably the most thorough and trusted.
