  • How to prepare for middle school volleyball tryouts?

Posted by admin on November 28th, 2009 and filed under middle school | 6 Comments »

What are some ways that I can prepare for middle school tryouts. I have a few months, but I really want to make it, so what can I do? Also, how much running do you have to do at tryouts?

this is my first year playing for my middle school and i would say you do a lot of conditioning so you aren’t out of breath on the court. my coach has us do drills and games and if we mess up or lose then we do running as consequences. It sounds meana and hard but its actually shes a good coach. That’s only practices though. at tryouts you do just as a warmup 2laps round the gym. and it depends on drills u do..not that much running. the coaches look for good passes and serves over the net.(the net and serving line are about 30ft apart). practice hitting the ball against a wall or sumthing that u would do that involves passing.

Hi,I play for my school ad also power club volleyball. I’ve been trying out for many club teams the past weekend. Just practice your serves, controlling your passes, setting, and the spiking steps (right, left right and jump off on both feet) they test you on your athletic skills like how high you jump and how long it takes you to get to the other side of the court. So just practice building up your calve muscles and run ALOT. Pracice makes perfect. But remember you can’t be garunteed to make the team as long as you had the confidence to tryout makes you a good player. Show good body language and call for the ball use your legs, show confidence, and always try your best!! :) hope I helped if you need help with anything else just add me to your contact list!! Goodluck!!

you dont run in middle school as much as you do in high school.
i am a senior in high school and high school is definatelly a lot more competitive obviously.
what you need to do is make sure you are in shape. that always helps you do better. so jogging is helpful before the tryouts to help you get in shape. and just make sure you practice setting, serving,.. and such.

my daughter is in high school volleyball. get your hands on the volleyball as much as possible. practice serving over hand using proper form. what position do you want to play? My daughter is the setter. that is like the quarterback of the team, but there is only one setter per team. There are right side hitters, left side hitters and ds’s. Ds dig the ball out of the back row especially after a serve. If you are short great position for you. Go to AAU amature athletic union (on line) play for a travel volleyball team. Ask your coach about travel volleyball teams in your area. They start up after middle school volleyball season. Have fun and good luck.

basically, make sure you can pass (bump) the ball, and know how to serve.
it’s also better if you know how to serve overhand too.
and always move your feet and go for the ball, never watch it.
be in shape, and work on your arms and legs, cuz its better to have strong arms in volleyball :)
i worked out my arms over the summer and i got way better at hitting!

      hope this helps :)
