I’m going to teach middle school students how to use PowerPoint. I want them to create a few basic PowerPoint presentations to show me what they’ve learned. One presentation will be an "About Me" presentation. They’d make a PowerPoint presentation that introduces them to their classmates. Any other ideas for simple PowerPoint topics?
I want topics that wouldn’t require any research for my students. Just real simple topics so they can get used to the PowerPoint program.
Such as lesson plan, after school programs, safety tips, test pre and so on~~
P.S. Here are some free PowerPoint templates you can download.

I know how the grading system works, but what grade are you when you start middle school and high school? and what grade are you when you leave? I’m english and i’m just curious lol
6 grade is when you go into middle school and 8th grade is when you leave 9th grade thru 12th grade is highschool. some school districts may do it differently but thats how mine works
Middle school students are passing beer salt around. What is it and why do they want it?
Beer salt does not have beer in it or anything alcoholic. I have seen kids at my school with it and i believe it is just a sodium filled candy (of some sort) if i were to judge, i think it is highly disgusting but that’s my opinion. Hoped i answered your question to the best of my ability.
I am teaching a band class outside of school do kids from 11-13 years old for more advanced middle school students. Does any one have any suggestions about songs or even games I can play with the kids? Preferably music/rhythm related games. And middle school advanced music. Not high school level yet. Maybe some Disney stuff or something they’d be interested in and have fun playing. Thank you so much!!!
I’d ask the kids to bring in instrumental stuff that they like. It would teach them the concept. If there are no words it can’t really be offensive and you could learn a lot about their taste.
My daughter and I are moving in with my fiancee and I want to send her to a private Catholic Middle School. Are there any near it or in the area?
Most Catholic schools are broken into just elementary schools (K-8) and high schools (10-12).
The Education website for the Archdiocese of Newark should point to the schools you want: http://www.catholicschoolsnj.org/csnj/_top

I just started teaching English at a middle school in South Korea. My focus is mainly on improving their speaking abilities. The problem is I see the students only once a week for 45 minutes. Classroom size average around 30 students, all with very limited English skills.
1) What is the best way to utilize the very limited amount of time I have?
2) What are some methods I could use to encourage students to speak English?
I introduce humor into the classroom when the kids don’t listen or try hard enough:
Sometimes, I would simply mime something when they are talking so they look up to me to try and understand what I am saying or talk loudly and completely gibberish and tell them that in English class all other languages sound like this. You could even write gibberish on the board and ask them to say- it also exercises their vocal skills.
Have lots of riddles in rhymes. Make up nonsense poems with them.
Have a fun "punishment" for every time they speak in Korean. I have a buddy system so when they talk their partners go up to them and sing in their ears or something silly but it works.
Catch the pulse of your class and see what works best with your class. Have humourous and innovative things to deter them to speak in vernacular. Have lots of games in English and most importantly, children tend to think in their native tongue so you have to make them see the beauty of the English language. Make some charts with beautiful graphics and word searches and put them up in class so they see them. Bring them beauty into the presentaion too leaving aside dull textbooks.
Most of all have fun and enjoy the learning process with them
I’m just wondering if my guidance counselor in middle school found out that I tried to kill myself, are ALL my teachers in high school notified of this?
It will be in your school record and your teachers may or may not see it. On the other hand, if you are considered to be a danger to yourself or others the teachers may see your record. Nevertheless, your parents have a right to make theirs and your wishes known about this matter. If your parents are concerned, have them to call or better yet come in to see the counselor about it. Have your parents say that they disapprove of this school policy, and they believe that this violates their family’s rights of privacy and due process. However, it may be a school rule and a school law that the school must do this. They can demand to go to the School Board to aire their complaint. But again, your parents also have the right to hire an attorney to bring this issue to the school board as well.
If you and your parents are concerned about that information leaking out to others, they do have the option of dropping you out of this school and transferring to a private school if you are still dissatisfied with the public school handling of the incident. Your parents should make clear that the school board knows what their wishes are. Good luck.
That is, a child who tells you, "Why do I need to read Charles Dickens? I’m interested in carpentry. How is Charles Dickens going to help me build cabinets?
Organize a flowchart: He needs to read. reading is also needed in carpentry. How is he supposed to know what is needed for a cabinet when he himself can’t read? How is he going to analyze the instructions given or needed to be done if he can’t read. Tell him reading is essential for everyday life. It’s essential most especially blah blah blah. Tell him that reading would be essential to what he wants to achieve, in that way, he’d also focus on that since it’s also essential. A person wont bother eating if he or she doesnt know it’s really important.
I am a grade 12 student who plans on going to university to get a bachelor of arts degree and bachelor of education. can I major in psychology and still teach middle school? I just wanted to know how much teachers make per hour, and if it’s easy to find a teaching job in Ontario canada. Thanks
No, you can not major in psychology and teach at a middle school–there are not classes in psychology that middle schoolers take.
Teachers do NOT get paid by the hour anywhere. It’s a contract rate for 9 months of work, spread out over 12 months or 24 pays.
I’ve heard mixed statements about this. I live in the southeast portion of the United States and am looking to become certified to teach middle school science and social studies. For any recent grads or teachers out there, will I have trouble finding a job? I could try to to teach math and science, maybe that would give me more of an edge? I will pick a best answer, please help!
Math and Science teachers tend to be more in demand across the country than any other since there are very few people who can teach them and pass the praxis tests for those subjects. Another thing that would help you when it comes time to find a job is to get some experience in the classroom prior to completing your student teaching. I am an English teacher and I got hired on my first interview and I had three other job offers after receiving my first one. Why? I had been a substitute teacher in the district for five years so a lot of the principals already knew who I was. From what I have seen, new teachers do get hired regardless of their major, but if the only classroom experience you have is student teaching you are going to have a lot harder time getting ahead of the pack. Good luck!
