  • Easy? What are the educational requirements for middle school math teachers?

What are the educational requirements for middle school math teachers?
You can just give me a brief answer. But PLEASE include ***WHERE YOU GOT IT FROM***!!!

And if it matters, educational requirements for middle school math teachers in New York!

    Thanks :)

You would need an earned credential after your bachelors. NCLB requires you to major in your subject, so you would need a bachelors in mathematics. New York requires their teachers to get a masters degree within 5 years.

Can anyone solve this middle school math problem?

The number of mice in Pedro’s barn is inversely proportional. When there are 48 mice in his barn, he owns 5 cats. He increases the number of cats he owns to 8. How many mice are in the barn when Pedro owns 8 cats? Use an equation Pedro can use to find any number of mice, m, when he owns any number of cats, c.

Yaya is wrong. Even though my initial approach was like hers it is not logical as increasing cats should decrease the mice and the question states it is inversely proportional.

When i see these problem first i go with my intuition

    lets analyze the problem here

    48 mice and 5 cats.

The number of mice is inversely proportional to the number of cats. That means more the mice less the cats.

In this question the number of cats are increased. So the number of mice will be decrease.

    48 mice ∝ 1 / 5 cats

Now let k be a constant

    48 mice = 1/5 cats

    5*48 = 240 = k

    The constant is k.

    Now remember

    x mice ∝ 1/ 8 cats

    Now using constant value

    x mice = 240*1/8
    x mice = 30

So when there are 8 cats he has 30 mice.

When he had 48 mice he had 5 cats.

    So your equation can be

240* 1/ Number of Cats = Number of mice.

Only thing i can’t explain to you in this problem is the proportionality. I read this a long time ago in a algebra book. I haven’t learned it in school. So i am sorry. But the answer is 30 mice for 8 cats and the constant k = 240.

Equation = 240/Number of cats = Number of mice!

    Hope that helps! Good luck!

Can you think of any ways to reward Middle School Students after State Testing?

Posted by admin on April 19th, 2011 and filed under middle school students | 3 Comments »

My mom teaches middle school students, and her and the other teachers are thinking about how to reward the students. This will include 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. They’re going to do a reward a day. So far they have dodgeball tournaments and karaoke. The teachers are having a hard time thinking of some more rewards. Any suggestions?

A big party? After I finished CST in 6th grade, the teacher threw a party for us. Though in your case, it’s gonna be a little difficult as it includes all three grades.
Or a dance. That’s the best option if it’s all three grades.

    Hope that helps ;P

what to i major and minor in>>> major in education and minor in math or vice versa?? or just major in both?

after obtaining my bachelors degree how do i become certified and how often to i have to recertify

if i wanted to get my masters degree would i be able to teach and get my masters simultaneously? and how long would it take for me to get my masters degree?? would i get my masters in math or education?

Teaching credentials are given by the state and states have different requirements for them. What state do you live in? If you live in California you major in math and during your 5th year you take education classes and student teach. Some states allow you to get a teaching credential with just 4 years of college, but 5 years is more common in the big states.

I dont know anyone, but I live right in Sammamish too, and the funny thing is that I also am looking for a math coach for WA State Olympiad. Last year my team won, so good luck!

What is taught in visual art class in middle schools?

Posted by admin on April 10th, 2011 and filed under middle schools | 1 Comment »

Is there standards? requirements? particularly in Canada? What do you remember from art class in middle school? what do you think should be taught?

There should be standards. In the US, we have national visual arts standards. which feed into our state standards, which feed into our district’s standards. In middle school, you should get as varied an experience in media as your system can afford, and you should be learning how the elements of art and the principles of design work in harmony to create good art.

Have married middle aged elementary school teachers ever slept with young female former students of theirs?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2011 and filed under middle school teachers | 3 Comments »

Just curious; since there are a whole bunch of married high school and college teachers sleeping with their much younger students. I’m just wondering; has anyone ever heard of married middle-aged (40s-50s) male elementary school teachers who are re-acquainted with female former students of theirs (in their late teens or in their 20s) and cheat on their wives with them?

I think that happened in central florida (I live in metro orlando) a few years ago…a HS gym teacher (may have even been a football coach but i can’t remember) was having sex with a cheerleader or dance team member and then when she graduated they kept meeting, and he was married…the girls mom found out and well you know the rest of the story…jail time for him nailing her when she was a teen…a HS student i mean…under 18. I saw a picture of the girl, she was a knockout, i can see why he was attracted to her, but well you just can’t go there until they are 18…

Oh you said elementary teacher…no have never heard of that

How can I start a petiton at my school so we can have football teams at middle schools in my community?

Posted by admin on January 21st, 2011 and filed under middle schools | 1 Comment »

My friends and I want to start a football league with all the middle schools in our community. Is it possible that if we have enough people to sign the petition then we will be able to have a football league?
    I live in Virginia

I don’t know why not. Where do you live?

Even Jr. high football makes money in the south.
